Fishers of Men Participates in Another Project in Rosenberg
Starting September 6, 2008
The home we will build will again be in Rosenberg at 722 Habitat Way. The new homeowner will be working along side of us. In addition to hands on building, we are looking for help with mentoring the new homeowner through the building process and for a few months beyond to introduce her to a new lifestyle of home ownership.
The build is scheduled to start on Saturday September 6th and run through the 25th of October. We will have an opening ceremony to introduce the receiving family and ask for the Lord’s help and safe covering for workers on the project. Construction begins with a framing blitz starting on Saturday, September 6th and continuing through October 28th on successive Saturdays.

Thrivent Financial has committed $125 million over four years to help Habitat for Humanity build hundreds of additional homes in the United States each year. In 2006 and 2007 more than 650 homes were constructed with 325 Habitat for Humanity affiliates. Thirty of those homes have been in Texas and ten more will be constructed in 2008.

Thrivent members and area Lutherans are helping a family build a home in Rosenberg on Habitat Way with Fort Bend Habitat for Humanity. Fishers of Men will again participate in building this new home.
- Through the Thrivent Builds with Habitat program:
- Thrivent provides 65% of the construction costs
- 25% is provided by the local Habitat for Humanity organization
- The Thrivent chapter and area Lutheran churches provide 10% of construction expenses. For the Rosenberg home, the 10% goal for the Fort Bend/Wharton Thrivent Chapter is $7,565.
- Last spring Fishers of Men helped build at the same site and we are pleased to say our Congregation provided 28% of the labor, which was the highest of any of the Lutheran Churches. Everyone who participated had an enjoyable and gratifying experience.

Details about the project for each Saturday of work are listed with the event. The schedule of activity is also a helpful guide for individuals to work especially when they may have a unique skill appropriate for the day. But remember, there's no experience necessary!
