Becky Roth returns May 1 We are excited to tell you that our Director Of Children's Ministry, Becky Roth, is returning from her leave of absence on May 1. We rejoice to welcome back back into her leadership role, and hope you will share your joy with Becky as well. National Day of Prayer National Day of Prayer is an opportunity to pray in UNITY across denominational lines in the public square for our nation. Let us not miss this opportunity. We have five locations and six times. We need people to show up! We need intercessory prayer in these two weeks leading up to the event and the day of the event because we hope for a spiritual result not a physical one. Learn more about this event at http://www.ndptf.org Stubenrousch Memorial Service A memorial service to celebrate the life of Margaret Mary Stubenrousch will be held at Fishers of Men this Saturday, May 3rd at 1:00 pm. Groundbreaking Ceremony & BBQ Fishers of Men will celebrate our groundbreaking on Sunday, May 4. A barbeque lunch from Pappas Barbeque will be served beginning at 11:30 am and a freewill offering will be accepted. Please bring pop up tents if you have one for shade and to share shade with others. The official groundbreaking ceremony will be at 1:00 pm. Make plans to join us for this joyous occasion! No Adult Sunday Bible Study May 4th There will not be any Adult Sunday Bible study on May 4th at the library in order to allow people to prepare for the groundbreaking celebration. Many thanks to Matt Kuntz for completing a wonderful series on evangelism, and we look forward to Matt teaching additional classes in the future. For Sunday the 11th, we will begin the Psalms class. Tell your friends, and we look forward to seeing you there and at the groundbreaking! Afternoon Tea & Style Show
This Sunday is the Last Day to Make Your Reservations! The Lady Fishers are very excited about our May 10th Afternoon Tea and Style Show benefiting the Children of Promise, which is a ministry of the Lutheran Social Services of the South, the largest provider of services for children living in Texas. Reservations for our Afternoon Tea and Style Show may be made today in the narthex after any of our three worship services. The cost of this event is $20.00 per person. Your next payment of $200 as well as your forms from the meeting for this summer's Workcamp trip is due TODAY. Please turn all payments in to the Youth Office. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this payment, please don't hesitate to contact Brett at 281-242-7711. As you sell your Workcamp stocks, turn the money in to the Youth office! Update for Pastor's Wed. Bible Study Pastor’s Wednesday Evening Bible Study will resume on May 14th beginning at 7:00 PM! We will be studying the book of Revelation - All are welcome as we go verse by verse through God’s word! For more information contact the church office at 281-242-7711. Next Prayer And Share Meeting On Sunday, May 18, from 630pm-8pm, Pastor Jerry McNamara will host another share and prayer meeting. All congregation members are invited to come for one hour of dialogue about Fishers of Men Lutheran Church, followed by a half hour of God's Word and prayer. Senior Recognition Senior Recognition is Sunday June 1st. BASIC SMALL ESTATE PLANNING SEMINAR, Part 2 At the second class, we will formally execute all wills. When you complete this two day seminar you will have your estate protected. For couples, it is mandatory that both attend for the signing ceremony. For three Wednesday’s, June 12, 19, & 26, we will be offering our next Discovery Class, 7:00-8:30 pm. This session helps people learn how we strive to live in a faith relationship with God, as individuals and as His family called Fishers of Men. For those that have been worshiping with us and are members of a sister Lutheran Church and wish to transfer your membership, please come to the class on Wednesday, June 26. Youth Assistant Part-Time Position Available Fishers of Men Youth Ministry is looking for a part-time youth assistant to help coordinate and organize our youth ministry program. The person in this position is a representative of our youth program to the congregation and may be called upon from time to time to attend meetings, make announcements, and/or be a “face” for the program. Good computer and organizational skills are needed and the ability to make frequent phone calls to youth and parents will be a large part of the job.
