Summer Workcamp Trip
Blanding, Utah
Who
Students currently in 8th grade through college age. You do not need to know how to do construction work to attend. You just have to have a servant’s heart!
Where
What
At the foot of the majestic Blue Mountains, minutes from two Indian reservations and surrounded by national parks, Blanding has earned the nickname “Base Camp to Adventure.” Tourists flock here to marvel at canyons in a rainbow of colors…view amazing natural stone arches…or raft a cool river. And the local culture is as varied as the landscape…Anglo, Navajo, and Ute all come together here. It’s hard to imagine poverty in such a gorgeous landscape. But the county is the poorest in the state, and the 29th poorest in the country, with almost one person in three living below the poverty line. Just outside town, many people don’t have electricity or running water. Entire extended families live crammed in tiny one-room hogans. You can make a real difference here. You may even learn about the area’s pioneer days as you paint the house of an elderly man who actually experienced them! You’ll experience incredible beauty—of the land, the people, and of God’s love.
