The Prodigal - The Invitation

Pastor Wayne Braun delivered his message on Palm Sunday, April 14, 2019 from the Sermon Series "The Prodigal" and is titled "The Invitation". 

The older brother is the real reason Jesus told this story which is pointed at the religious leaders from Luke 15:1-2 who self-righteously criticize Jesus for “welcoming sinners and eating with them.”  They are much like the Pharisees in today’s Palm Sunday Gospel, who rebuke Jesus for letting his disciples celebrate.  (Luke 19:39-40)  The hardest truth for we who have been Christians all our lives is to recognize ourselves in the older brother.  Yet as the Father points out to the Older brother – he has been gracious and generous with him too… there is here only reason for rejoicing!
